Question by blah: What percent should the unemployment rate actually be?
I know perfect would be 0% but that is not realistic even if there were enough jobs for every single American some capable people just would not work. I have heard the unemployment rate is 9% is that really too high?

Full unemployment is considered to be 95% employment. 5% unemployment.

It’s is important to note that the unemployment rate is not a percent of the population that is unemployed. The percentage that you see on TV or the newspaper is the percentage of the population that are looking for jobs and cannot find them. If people that are discouraged or apathetic towards looking for a job were included in the unemployment rate, it would be in the high teens or low twenties. To answer your question, 9% is a historically high unemployment rate and the target area is around 4-5%
