What happens if I still have extended unemployment benefits remaining when my “benefit year” expires?
Question by Christi G: What happens if I still have extended unemployment benefits remaining when my “benefit year” expires?
I have been receiving Ohio unemployment after my factory closed down. I am currently attending school, and my benefit year just expired. I had been approved for extended benefits and still had about 12 weeks of benefits left in this tier. Do I simply lose the remaining weeks, or how do I get them?

You need to call or go to the unemployment office and ask them this question, and if there is anything you need to fill out or do, they’.ll tell you.

You need to re-apply for benefits, if you did not have enough wages to qualify for a new benefit year, (wages in the last four quarters), then you are cut off.
