Thom Hartmann: What America Has Given Up For 10 Years of Bush Tax Cuts
For more signs that we are in a Great Depression and not just a Great Recession – consider this fact – today – over 6 million Americans – more than 45% of all the unemployed in our nation – have been out of work for more than 6 months – a higher percentage than during the Great Depression. Not to mention an unknown several million other people – the 99ers – who have been jobless so long they’re not eligible to receive unemployment benefits anymore. There are two Americas today – one comprised of the working class that’s in the grip of a Second Republican Great Depression – and the other comprised of millionaires and billionaires who are unscathed thanks to the Wall Street bailout. And the news media – filled mostly with millionaires – don’t want to discuss this reality. But I do Between 2001 and 2010 – The Bush tax cuts cost our economy two and a half trillion dollars! That’s two and a half trillion added on to our debt that Republicans today are screaming is way to high. And that money that SHOULD have been flowing through our government and then through our economy – mostly went into the hands of the very few and the very rich. In fact – nearly a third of all the Bush tax cuts went to the top 1% of Americans. But wait…there’s more.

There you go people..
It‘s interesting how liberals scream about how corporations spend so much money to get Republicans elected. Yet in the same breath, Dems praise labor unions as real people — completely ignoring the “corporations” that employ them and the astronomical amounts corporate UNIONS spend to elect Democrats.
obama is illegal, homosexual (he loves to fellate men, ask Larry Sinclair, Anderson Cooper, David Corn, Shepard Smith), illegal muslim porch monkey with a filthy, dirty pig of a wife. michelle wears size 14 shoes, she can’t hide that. when she takes a dump, she has to lower her turds by hand, even break some in half to flush them.
@wjksea
No distortion, whatsoever. The ultra-rich indeed use tax-exempt “foundations” and offshore corporations to circumvent high progressive income taxation on much of their incomes. It’s only your so-so rich, neighborhood entrepreneurs who pay under a high-tax system. But, who needs them, right?
Moreover, under a centralized monetary system, those same ultra-rich people will subvert the govt. to ensure that they get even richer. Just consider how much bailout fiat-money went overseas.
@wjkseaMORON That lets your boy Hartmann out. And he is really a Bushlite, because Obama is continuing and expanding on the previous administrations policies,. And Hartmann keeps defending Obama and Democrats. So your whole lecture to me is a waste of time and says A WHOLE LOT OF NOTHING. IT MUST SUCK TO BE A TWO FACED PHONY ASS LIBERAL LIKE YOURSELF!
@truthout911 The ineffectiveness of such commentary to advance or improve the nation is determined. The exact same could be said the extreme right wing mouth pieces that have been spewing bile over the airwaves for nearly 3 decades. Rush Limbaugh bullies and abuses his callers and frequently hangs up on them. Any honest person looking for resolution knows this is true. The voices of the anti-social elements will be defeated when good people stand up to senseless destruction bullies.
@LibertaerUeberAlles Now I’d have to say, that this comment is one major cognitive distortion and an absolute distortion of reality absolutely.
@LibertaerUeberAlles Another conspiracy theory by you? You trust corporate backed research? I would not be surprised if you are a creationist who believes global warming is a hoax. heh heh
@BJBoi18
Yup, “mainstream economics” … derived from research sponsored by the Rockafella Foundation lol
Most of the money the rich are given through the bailouts or taxcuts don’t go back into the economy. The money goes into foreign bank accounts, either in Switzerland or in a tax haven or some precious metal. Any money they do spend is spent on foreign goods anyway.
Here again we hear from the stupid ThomTards responding with their nonsensical comments cheer at Hartmann talking down to them but showing them his Romper Room visual aides.
@LibertaerUeberAlles
It is mainstream economics. Your channel does not have a pic and age, so you are probably much older than I am. Your billionaire conservative idols have you hooked and Paul Ryan wants your Medicare and Social Security, gramp. Heh heh
No Tanfeliz….. Thom Hartman actually knows his shit……… unlike you!
10 years of tax deferments.
@BJBoi18
Is that what your Progressive billionaire kings told you?
@davwhitt
Well, the Gilded Age featured money printed by the Treasury. I think the problem is that whoever has wealth and political influence can control the monetary system. This means they can not only effect inflation (which helps the wealthy and hurts the poor) but also avail themselves to cheap credit and bailouts. This was krafted into a science when “billionaire” Warburg started the Fed (which required the income tax to support it). A good video:

@LibertaerUeberAlles
Progressive taxes keep the rich from screwing everyone else you slack jawed yokel. I am glad I do not waste my time on right wing libertarian tea bagging Ron Paul freak tards like you Heh Heh
Thom Hartmann is the shit.
The only justice I see is “They Will Burn In Hell”
@LibertaerUeberAlles
The era before the income tax, the Fed and fiat money was known as the Gilded Age when the top 1% owned 99% of all wealth. Those who don’t learn from history are doomed to repeat it. You want to end billionaire favoritism? Support publicly financed campaigns and laws making bribery illegal again (may need a Constitutional Amendment thanks to the right-wing Supreme Court’s Citizens United ruling). I agree the Fed should go, let the Treasury make money as it once did.

Heh, sorry about the edits. Couldn’t get the formatting to work right.
I’m reminded of all the Big Liberal billionaires, with their tax-exempt “foundations” and offshore corporations, who deceptively advocate for high taxes on whom they call “high earners” — i.e., people with high incomes, but without enough wealth to sidestep the tax system like Big Libs do. Will oligarchy be part of the “Democracyville” paradigm?
Alternatively, how ’bout this? — We end the income tax, the Fed and fiat money. No more inflationary bailouts and billionaire favoritism!
It’s over. Stick a fork into us, we are done.
These last three BushBama terms have been horrible for this country (and all the other ones who have had war thrown onto them)
