Question by Unhappy Renter: What state to file unemployment after honorable discharge?
I am separating from the Military this January. I have Iowa residence but am going to college in Florida. What state should I file for unemployment? How much can I expect to see if any? Thank you.

Best answer:

Answer by frichalf
you will file for it wherever you live, so in your case Florida. I don’t know how much or how long Florida will give you the pay, but don’t depend on that as primary income. I sure hope you are taking advantage of the post 9-11 GI Bill, its a sweet deal!

Can a full time college student in the state of Ohio collect unemployment after being laid off?

Question by forestofblackroses: Can a full time college student in the state of Ohio collect unemployment after being laid off?
I go to college full time and must work in order to afford my tuition and living expenses. The company i work for shut down and laid off everyone. In the state of Ohio am I eligible to receive unemployment while still going to school full time?

Best answer:

Answer by Anna K. P

Although specific eligibility requirements vary from state to state, most states have the same basic standards for collecting unemployment benefits. They include:

-You must be unemployed or working less than full time
-You must meet certain income requirements
-You must be ready, willing, and able to work
-You must have involuntarily left your job

In general, you won’t be eligible for benefits if:

-You quit your job simply because you didn’t like it
-You’re fired for committing a crime (e.g., stealing)
-You’ve never worked before

For more information, contact your state’s local employment office. You can also look in the state government section of your phone book under Unemployment Insurance, Unemployment Compensation, Employment Insurance, or Employment Service. Or, you can try surfing the Internet using these same key terms.

Regardless of which state you live in, you’ll receive a weekly unemployment benefit based on how long you were employed and your prior wages. The state will calculate your average weekly wage, and you will receive a percentage of that wage based on your state’s formula. You can figure out your average weekly wage by adding up 12 months’ worth of pay stubs and dividing that number by 52. If you were salaried, just divide your annual salary by 52.

Length will vary depends on your situation. Usually it last up to 26 weeks..

I’d recommend you to go ahead and call your local unemployment office, and get a clear answer.

Bordner Cabin, Swatara State Park on Old State Road, 2.7 miles NE of the Appalachian Trail Bridge

2009 Virtual Tour of the Bordner Cabin in Swatara State Park on Old State Road, 2.7 miles NE of the Appalachian Trail Bridge. A self-guided tour includes interior signage and pictures of Armar Bordner as well as pictures of the rooms as they were furnished during his tenure at the Cabin. In rustic lodge style architecture created by the National Parks Services and built between 1916 – 1942, the interlocking hand-hewn logs form both the exterior and interior walls of the building. The porch railing is a geometric lace of branches. The basement walls and fireplace were crafted from stone found on the site. The property was originally owned by Union Canal Engineer Benjamin Aycrigg. Armar Bordner purchased the property, and built the Cabin by Aycrigg’s Falls on Rattling Run. As part of Project 70, which sought to place a state park within 25 miles of every citizen, the State of PA initiated eminent domain proceedings on all properties within the boundary of Swatara State Park. Armar fought the eminent domain proceeding, and won a lease to live in the Cabin that he built until his death. The Swatara Watershed Association, a 501c3 nonprofit, learned of plans to demolish the Cabin. After a site visit, SWA, the current occupants, successfully petitioned the State for a 10-year lease, which started in 2006. SWA believes the Bordner Cabin should be shared with the community, and has a vision of operating the facility as an open-air pavilion for artists to paint, photographers to

In my experience an unemployment check in Washington will be about half of your normal wages on a weekly basis. And you won’t get paid at all for the first week of unemployment.

Thank You!!!!

Best answer:

Answer by EMAILSKIP
You probably know other felons who are working. Apply at those places because you know they don’t have hangups about ex cons. Many people in your situation do find good jobs. When someone ask you about your past say, “yeah, I had a problem and I took care of it….it’s behind me now”….”Next question”.
Everybody has a “past” and many people won’t hold that againist you. If they would, you don’t want to work for them anyway. Good Luck.
