They just passed a bill allowing people to file for extensions until June. There is also legislation in the works to allow people to continue to apply for extensions through December 31, 2010.

Following is the schedule of payments for most people (remember, if you had part-time work during your regular OR Federal UI claims, the time frames may be extended):

Regular state funded UI: 26 weeks
Tier I: 20 weeks
Tier II: 14 weeks
Tier III: 13 weeks
Tier IV: 6 weeks

Soon, you will be able to apply for those benefits through December 31, 2010.

There are currently 4 Tiers of Federal benefits after the state benefits run out. Whether or not you will be eligible to apply for all 4 Tiers depends on when your Tiers run out.

I suggest that you start emailing your Congress and Senate representatives, urging them to pass the extension bill through December 31. They need to hear from the people out here without jobs.

Platinum Tax Defenders Encourages Small Business Owners to Take Advantage of Tax Deductions Passed in January of 2013

Los Angeles, California (PRWEB) February 28, 2013

Small business owners are often too busy to research specific tax breaks and deductions until the deadline has passed to claim them and get the much needed tax relief. The American Taxpayer Relief Act (ATRA) of 2012 that passed as of January 2013 included some specific provisions, new and old, that may help spur small business growth. Although there has not been nationwide enthusiasm for ATRA’s provisions, especially in the wake of the Affordable Care Act, Platinum Tax Defenders notes that there are a number of breaks for small business owners. Platinum Tax Defenders also notes that it may be wise for self-employed taxpayers hampered with back taxes to meet with a professional tax return specialist, especially if IRS negotiations are necessary.

Some tax credits for businesses are already commonly known, such as the Native American employee hiring credit and the work opportunity credit for veterans, because deadlines were merely extended. Other popularly known extensions include bonus depreciation, energy tax breaks, and unemployment compensation. The Small Business Administration (SBA) points out that the bonus depreciation enables small businesses to recover the costs of qualified new equipment faster than the ordinary schedule, since 50% of the new equipment cost can be deducted from the first year of its ownership. The research and development credit has gotten some press attention, and can be valuable for smaller corporations or partnerships that engage in product testing. A Businessweek article reported that the greatest benefits are gained by companies grossing upwards of $ 250 million, although start-up companies were able to claim an average benefit of $ 151,000. Platinum Tax Defenders suggests that tax resolution services may be beneficial for the paperwork involved in claiming these credits.

Some of the lesser-used credits include the home office tax deduction. Although estimates by the Treasury Department indicate that 52 percent of small businesses are home-based, and many of these small businesses have home office space that would qualify for the deduction, the home office tax deduction is underused. Entrepreneurial taxpayers are allowed a $ 5 per square foot deduction for home office space, with a 300-square-foot cap, so that up to $ 1,500 may be deducted.

Another lesser-known advantage through the Patient Affordable Care Act of 2009 is that a company with fewer than 25 full-time employees is eligible for a tax credit of up to 35% of health insurance premiums, through 2013. In 2014, the credit is scheduled to increase to 50%. However, part-time employees are partially counted, and average wages for full-time employees should balance out to less than $ 50,000 gross. A Platinum Tax Defender specialist notes that cautionary words about the complex nature of the forms to be filled out is an understatement, and should be reviewed by a CPA or a tax attorney.

In light of these tax credits, Platinum Tax Defenders encourages self-employed and entrepreneurial taxpayers with delinquent returns to obtain tax resolution help. Not only are tax credits often underused, but IRS seizure of property may occur if taxes are not filed currently, or if large tax balances remain unpaid.

Platinum Tax Defenders has a dedicated team of 10 professionals (including tax attorneys, CPA’s and former IRS agents) with a ten-year track record of stopping bank levies and removing tax liens. Most initial consultations range from 20 to 45 minutes, in which a qualified tax resolution professional can examine the specifics of the situation and offer strategies for dealing with the IRS.

Why do jobless claims continue to go up after Obama promised us 8% or lower unemployment if we passed the?

Question by : Why do jobless claims continue to go up after Obama promised us 8% or lower unemployment if we passed the?
stimulus bill last year? Hmm…did he know what he was doing or perhaps not? If he did, then why couldn’t he tell us WHEN the 8% figure would happen? Or, if he didn’t, they why did he force us to pass the stimulus NOW and have the house sign it over the weekend at 3am while he was on vacation? Also, things would have been worse without the stimulus?? How do they know? Did we try it or was that JUST a theory? It can’t be a fact, since what? Are we psychic now? Economic theories prove it would have been worse without the stimulus? Again, those are just theories, we can’t say if it would have been worse can we since we didn’t actually experience it. That’s like me saying I’m going to Florida for vacation and not Alabama, because I would enjoy Florida better. How do I know when I’ve never been to Alabama? Based on hearsay and theory?
Mr. Wolf, there are literally hundreds of video clips of Obama stating passing the stimulus RIGHT NOW will keep unemployment at or below 8%. They are not fabricated, the are REAL.
Okay, well, if I base my life on economic theories, I probably won’t make it, since THEY are ALWAYS changing. My whole family has economic backgrounds, so YES, I know ALL of the theories. I just wouldn’t mind finding out the truth about Obama.
I wonder why non-financial companies are sitting on all that cash? Oh wait, they’re afraid to spend it because they don’t trust the current administration with all their government spending, which, can only lead to one thing, tax hikes.

Best answer:

Answer by Mr. Wolf
People on the right want to ignore what President Obama started with. He did not say unemployment would not go above 8% there was a study done by his administration that had that calculation in it.

As far as unemployment goes the increase for President Obama’s first 18 months is less than half of that under Bush’s last 18 months.
George Bush
4.6% August 2007
7.7% January 2009
3.1 5 increase

President Obama
8.2% February 2009
9.5% June 2010
1.3% increase

President Obama was sworn in on January the 20, 2009 so I felt it was fair to put January’s numbers under Bush.

THERE IS NOT ONE CLIP OF PRESIDENT OBAMA MAKEING THAT STATEMENT.

No it passed the house on 9/22/09 and it is not on schedule yet for the senate. They’ll get to it when they feel like scheduling it. Keep googling the senate schedule with upcoming dates and look out for it. But they go home for a while on break after the first week of october but they will definately get to it before that.

Still held up by the republicans. They believe in tax breaks for the rich, bailouts, bonuses, and are BP apologists but the working class gets their middle finger. Remember that when voting this fall.
