I accepted a job offer verbally for a little more than what I make now. I went to turn my 2 weeks in and my current employer came back with a counter offer for a substantial amount more than the other company. With having a 3 1/2 month old baby and barely making ends meet, I want to accept the counter offer because financially, it is the best thing for my family and I. I haven’t signed the offer letter from the other company, just a verbal acceptance. How should I go about declining the offer?

If you’ve not signed anything, you’re wholly entitled to go to the other company. You may have to work a week’s notice or so, depending wheon their terms.

I been trying to contact my local unemployment office for the last week to discuss the emergency unemployment compensation and I’ve been getting nothing but busy signals.I’m almost exhausted my benefits for the year and I’m trying to find employment in my area the best I can including visiting careerlink centers but noone has not contacted me back.Does the 13 week will apply to me until I am able to find work? Its frustrating when you can’t get noone on the phone to answer a simple question

if you are eligible for the additional 13 weeks the state will send you a notice about 2 weeks before the original 26 weeks is used up.
