Just wondering if anyone has received anything in writing concerning the unemployment extension??

probably not the law just went into effect and as of Thursday 7/3/08 only 3 states had joined the program.
i am sure the rest will in good order but it will be a couple of weeks at least for notifications to go out.
EDIT(totally unrelated)
it is a real shame that Bush vetoed these extensions once already and the Republicans helped to prevent them from even being sent up to Bush on two other occasions but at least now some help for those who really need it will be available.

I received 26 weeks worth of benefits, and I have 10 weeks left of the 26. Hopefully, something will work out before those 10 weeks are up, but if it does not I want to know if I’m eligible for the extension of 7-13 weeks. I worked in the state of VA for 19 months before I was laid-off, before that I worked in another state. Any advice or personal experience is appreciated.

You do nothing other than continue to certify weekly. Extensions are automatic.

You apply with EDD. It is NOT an automatic process. Also, since you are moving to a different state…you cannot exactly be looking for a job in CA while moving out of state at the same time, so your extension claim will likely be denied.

I have read headlines like the following: “Rebublican Senator puts federal employees out of work”
“Kentucky’s Bunning again blocks jobless benefits”
Here is the truth that you did not see on television or from the headlines hidden deep within the story:
“Bunning said again Tuesday that he opposed the extension because it would add $ 10 billion to the budget deficit, and he attacked Democrats for abandoning promises to pay for legislation instead of contributing to a budget deficits projected to hit almost $ 1.6 trillion this year. Bunning proposes to pay for the extension with unspent money from last year’s massive economic recovery package, but Reid objected.”
Congress had passed “pay as you go” but were waiving it for this measure.
#1 Should federal money be spent on unemployment benefits or loaned to tapped out state funds instead? (The states have their own unemployment insurance funds.)
#2 Is it a really bad idea to ask for the proposal which includes federal money for road projects aside from the unemployment measure to be part of the stimulus spending?
#3 Are we seeing several ways to increase the size of the stimulus bill without calling it that?
#4 Were you aware of the increased baseline numbers in Obama’s budget that make parts of the stimulus bill permanent instead of temporary? (They were hidden in footnotes at the end of the budget.)

No but I think he was just grandstanding. Just wanted to get in the newspapers and see himself on TV.

I am on unemployment and qualify for the extension, according to the Texas Workforce Commission we should receive our back pay today, but my account still shows 0 and I have not received a letter from the Texas Workforce Commission. I have tried contacting them but the phone number listed says due to the high volume of calls, they are no longer accepting calls? Has the payment showed up on anyones account yet?

I am right along with you and I am so fustrated, I have been googling the same question and some people are having luck by speaking with a live person at 7am, so I will be calling in the morning. I also called to check balance on my chase card and it says it has been lost or stolen and will take 5-7 days to receive new one, which I never called and cancelled my card…hmm . Keep us posted.

I did not hear anything, but you would seek for the others sources…single Mom w/3 kids may qualify for low income.
