After quantitative easing is done, will metals get hit hard?

Question by i like cereal: After quantitative easing is done, will metals get hit hard?
Will a stronger dollar necessarily mean a weaker metal? Gold has had a spectacular run this year – will that metal in particular be hit the hardest?

Best answer:

Answer by JoeyV
If we thought that quantitative easing ending necessaily meant for a stronger dollar we could make unlimited amounts of money shorting the dollar. I think metals are going to get hit hard when everyone realizes that there is no worth to them. I’m old enough to have seen bubble after bubble after bubble. This is even the third silver bubble I remember and it will end the same way as the other ones – two weeks of limit down days. Last time, silver was piled so high in the offices of EF Hutton, that people were coming into work and calling janitors to “move this crap out of my office”. We’ve got a few more weeks and then all the dumb money will be played out.

Does the unemployment benefits extension apply to people running out of coverage after the 1st of the year?

Question by : Does the unemployment benefits extension apply to people running out of coverage after the 1st of the year?
I live in Illinois and have been unemployed since November 2008. My basis 26 week coverage has been used and I will exhaust the 33 week federal extension around January 15th, 2010. Does the recent 14/20 week extension approved by Congress provide coverage to those running out of benefits after the first of the year? Please provide information source if possible.

Best answer:

Answer by sweet_emotion
It applies to current & immediate future coverage. For the 200,00 people who fell off the rolls during the 3 weeks the republicans filibustered to get their ‘pork’ in – those folks got scre&ed – courtesy of the GOP – not retroactive. Thank the GOP at election time.

can i still get student loans after I’ve had a foreclosure on a home?

Question by Darante M: can i still get student loans after I’ve had a foreclosure on a home?
My wife and I are planning to go to school full-time, but our house is going into foreclosure. After the house goes into foreclosure will we still be able to get student loans?

Best answer:

Answer by greentadpole
You can obtain student loans as long as the school is eligible and you do not owe the government money:

You are eligible for funds if:
You have not defaulted on student loans (Perkins/Stafford/consolidated)
You do not owe taxes
You have not been convicted of a felony

Start with completing your FAFSA (www.fafsa.ed.gov) and complete the requested information. If you are not sure of the school you want to attend, list the school(s) you are interested in applying.
Your FAFSA will search for free money (grants) and tell you how much funding is available.
Once you decide on the school you want to attend, make an appointment with the Financial Aid Office (FAO) as they can answer any questions and help you complete (and navigate) the student loan process.

Can owner do short sale of home even after foreclosure with redemption period notice?

Question by : Can owner do short sale of home even after foreclosure with redemption period notice?
A friend of mine stopped paying for their home that is upside down. Now it’s in foreclosure and they received notice of auction date. Do they still have a chance to negotiate with the bank to sell property on short sale? Please advise.

Best answer:

Answer by dusty_titus
No – once bank has initiated “foreclosure” time for short sale or other remedy is over. Short sale has financial ramifications also – Tax money must be returned. Your friend should go ahead and file BK ASAP, if not – bank can come back in future and sue for balance of loan.

Can you stop foreclosure on a house after the foreclosing date has been set?

Question by Caribou2: Can you stop foreclosure on a house after the foreclosing date has been set?
The bank is foreclosing on my relative’s house in 3 weeks. The thing is that he is older and left the state for a long vacation without making arrangements for paying his mortgage.

He’s back now and has the money to pay everything that is owed. Can he still fork over the payment and avoid foreclosure? Or is foreclosing inevitable once the process starts? What can he do?

Best answer:

Answer by Landlord
He can stop it up until the date it happens. The house is still his.
