Single mom, recently unemployed going back to school full time, What kind of school assitance can I get?

I am a single mom, and have recently become unemployed. I have enrolled and have already started going back to school. Because I am now unemployed I decided to go back to school full time in order to graduate in sooner. Are there any grants or assistance that can help me through this?

You need to fill out a FAFSA to get any kind of federal or state aid. I would start there. Also, visit your school’s financial aid office and see what kind of other scholarships might be available to you.

There are tons and tons of scholarships them online. You just need to apply. Google search it. You can also take out loans or contact their financial aid department about grants.

Did you have any luck finding scholarships / grants online for unemployed, single moms? I’ve googled it, signed up at all the sites, and still nothing panned out. My school says there’s nothing at this time. I’m in the same situation. I start school in January, have been unemployed since June, and have a 3-year-old son – so now I’m a full-time Mom trying to entertain him all day while preparing for school and paying the bills with my unemployment check…Really don’t want to take on so many student loans, but looks like that’s my only option at this point.
