Transcript: Mr. Speaker, it is a shame and a disgrace that we did not extend unemployment insurance. Every single Member who voted no yesterday should be ashamed of themselves. People are suffering. They are hurting. They are in pain. They cannot make ends meet. And too many, just too many on the other side of the aisle turn a deaf ear. I ask my republican colleagues: Can’t you hear? Can’t you feel? Can’t you see? Where is your heart? Where is your compassion? Where is your concern? Extend unemployment benefits, and extend it now.

we’re not entitled to unemployment by funds we paid into the system all our lives, but we are the pieces of crap that will be paying back the bail out funds! this seems very one sided to me.

its easy to be cynical but given a choice, when families are struggling with unemployment day after day, is it really fair to make them hurt more. No thats just callous.
In the same way benefit cheats have impaired moral values so is a government that takes away such benefits to otherwise hard working citizens, victims of extraordinary changes in the economy, beyond their control.
