Labor uses jobless to lean on Congress to extend unemployment benefits By Michael O’Brien – 12/03/10 12:04 PM ET The AFL-CIO pressed lawmakers to extend a “lifeline” to unemployed workers by extending benefits for out-of-work Americans. The labor group pressed Congress to approve another extension of unemployment benefits by featuring a video depicting jobless workers. “Congress is debating whether to restore this survival aid,” the video says. “This is not a debate. The choice is clear.” The unemployment benefits expired Nov. 30 and have lapsed since then. Such a situation has played out several times this year due to legislative wrangling. Republicans demand the extensions be paid for by spending cuts elsewhere, while Democrats insist the spending is an “emergency” and not subject to pay-as-you-go rules. The latest fight centers around Republicans’ insistence that the benefits be paid for and that an extension of all expiring tax cuts be approved first. @ART1975CZ The unemployment rate under Bush averaged 5.4% and was well below 5% for an extended period. The Democrats have been in power for 4 years now, remember 2006? Google the unemployment charts, unemployment started to rise in ’06 during the election period and has continued to rise under control of the Democratic congress.
Don’t kid yourself, Democrats aren’t for the poor, Democrats encourage poverty by trading welfare for votes.

Why is Congress playing with the middle class when they are fighting for the rich? Can there be an answer? Are we to believe that these people take a second place to the wealthiest people in the USA?
Either we extend federal unemployment, or each state will have to pick up the costs of families with no home or car insurance, no health care, unable to feed their children, possibly homeless. Pay now or pay later. If we allow tax cuts for the rich to continue, we must require them to create a job for every $25,000. in tax savings.
