At a press conference on Thursday, Pelosi, who was defending a jobless benefits extension bill, said that unemployment benefits are creating jobs faster than practically any other program.
“It injects demand into the economy,” Pelosi said. “It creates jobs faster than almost any other initiative you can name.”
Meanwhile, in the latest job report, the country lost 125,000 jobs in June, more than expected, as thousands of temporary census jobs ended and private hiring slowed. According to MSNBC, though the unemployment rate unexpectedly fell to 9.5% from 9.7%, the lowest in a year, it was largely due to more people dropping out of the labor force.

Apparently making it so people don’t actually have to work makes them want to work… I don’t understand.

This should be good, getting them to answer the question should be funny enough, but then having them explain anything that Nancy Pelosi said is going to be more hilarious. I guess the forth is right around the corner, I will sit back and watch the fireworks.

It doesn’t. A guy on the radio called in and was saying he had a couple of guys apply for a job but didn’t want it until the unemployment ran out. They were no longer considered for the job.
Well they have to increase the number of workers at the lottery counter and liquor stores.
That .2% decrease in unemployment was due to the temporary Census jobs.

Well as far as I know you are supposed to show that your a actively searching for a job. I was out of work for about a month and thought I might have to deal with unemployment. I am so glad I didn’t have to though it’s not the walk in the park people seem to think it is and I know some people abuse it but many people actually need it right now.

If Pelosi thinks unemployment is a good thing, lets be sure she starts receiving her check in November 2010.

Well this depends on exactly *what* unemployment benefits are being given.
If the said benefit involves grants towards training for a new career, I’d say that certainly creates jobs.
If the said benefit involves cutting welfare checks, then clearly no.
They have to hire more people to dole out all the tax payers hard earned money to the recipients. Thats why we are approaching more government employees than private ones.Thats what happened in Rome before it fell. Rampant immigration finished Rome off. The libretards don’t like history much. Those who forget the past are condemned to relive it.
It does nothing for the economy.
It helps the person but unemployment is a net drain on the economy.
You take 100 dollars in taxes the government wastes 40% and you put back 60 dollars into the economy. Zero help on the economy
In California at least until recently if you were a Casino or Strip club it helped you business or was that just in the case of food stamp recipients?
She is trying her darnest to keep people on the government dole long enough so after a couple of years they will say hey this isn’t so bad. It beats getting up every morning and going to look for a job. Most people do not hire people out of the work force for more than 2 years.
Then she assumes they will vote for her and the Dem’s and she really does not want to give up her elitist lifestyle she has grown so accustomed to.
She has an Military Jet with a full staffed bar that gets her back and forth. Life couldn’t be any better for her.
She really needs to go and live on unemployment.

Meanwhile, a report recently came out stating if you don’t have a current job interviewers won’t even talk to you.
It gives libs more coins to toss in the wishing well hoping for a real job.
Well…the unemployed have so much time on their hands they take the UE $ & buy some dope. The pusher buys Mercedes & jewelry which keeps those companies humming. The police have to hire more cops to seek out the drug dealers. The druggie OD’s on bad hop & goes to the ER where more nurses have to be hired & doctors too. So you see, it really IS stimulatoing the economy!
