Laid off but offered a position that is several miles away from home do I have to accept or loose unemployment?
Question by Amy H: Laid off but offered a position that is several miles away from home do I have to accept or loose unemployment?
I was just informed that our department would be laid off however I was offered a position in a county that would require me to drive over 30 miles more than my previous location. I currently drive 35 miles to work. If I don’t accept this position will I be allowed to collect unemployment?

Answer to Second question: No. Sorry, lazybones.

65 miles away? No, I don’t think you have to accept it. But why don’t you ask your Dept of Employment Security instead of this motley crew?
Depends on how far you mean when you say “several miles”. I When I think of several I think of 3 or 4 not 40 or 50.
