  • Keith Stone:

    nope

  • Tom Jr:

Nope. Spending must be controlled. And jobs exist. People are simply not willing to accept one outside their comfort zone.

  • RLP:

No, but I’d vote to make exhibiting an enemy flag a traitorous act.

  • jaker:

Only is spending were cut somewhere else to pay for it.

  • James S:

Nope. No free rides. Especially if you been living off of it for 2 years

  • Legio XVII:

Yes. The job market is recovering more slowly than the rest of the economy. Unemployment payments exist to help keep these people afloat until the economy recovers enough for them find jobs. There’s no excuse not to pass an extension.

  • Beulah:

No, they have 99 weeks currently, what I would do is help cut the burdens on business so they would not need unemployment benefits.

  • annie:

no most states can not afford it. California vetoed the last one cause they have no money for it. Michigan will be next. the states that have employer paid will go broke paying it also.

  • Sophie:

Yes, I would. And I’m a Republican. What I don’t know is if there was any other legislation included in that bill that Democrats tried to stuff in there.

  • Who is John Holmes?:

    Yes

  • norskeyenta2:

    Yes.

  • Socky:

Hell, that’s not the tie up in Congress, they’re arguing over where the money is to come from.

Democrats want to borrow more to pay for it.

Republicans and more Conservative Democrats want to use money they’ve already borrowed. Like some leftover TARP money, or some stimulus money they have lying around.

Only seems to be the Libby media, who know what is really going on, and Obama, who wants to claim it’s Republicans who don’t want to help the unemployed. They’re just fighting over how to pay for it.

  • ahandle101:

No, according to Obama the economy is fixed. Also, how many more times is going to be “just two more months”? Come up with a real expiration date for the extension and stick with it. Democrats should stop trying to sound like some home repair con artist.

  • I Love my Banana:

…Only if it were a part of a Bill that would DEMAND the Federal Government to balance the Federal Budget ! Congress hasn’t even submitted a Federal Budget for this year yet !

  • John gibson @foxnews.crap:

yes I would take the money from Afghanistan and Iraq to pay for it.

  • Utopia:

No, because I know several people that are unemployed and they rather collect their unemployment $ than work. Or they are doing jobs that pay cash and still collecting their unemployment benefits. I also know someone that had a job offer, making $ 80K but turned it down because it wasn’t enough. He was looking to make 100K to run construction jobs. I

YES and I would take the money from other social programs like Section 8 Housing, Welfare, and free medical care for illegals. It is better to provide for those who WERE providing for themselves until they were set upon by the Democraps than it is to continue to support a class of trash with absolutely no desire to better themselves. KILL WELFARE and help the working American citizen. If the welfarians want to get that “cheese” they should be forced to enlist in the military or take a rifle and go stand on the border. Every American citizen SHOULD be made to provide SOMETHING to America, give something back. And to force those who do give back and have busted their asses to get ahead should be taken care of now that the social democrats have given away all of our jobs to illegals and foreigners. F everybody else, it’s time to clean up our own yard first.

  • chris:

Yes. When its you guys out of a job you’ll feel differently. Usually its not accepting reasonable work that’s the problem, its caring for their two year olds and not being able to afford a daycare, or maybe that have a disease and can’t work, or no money to travel somewhere to get a job. And to whoever posted the enemy flag comment, what exactly do you define as an enemy flag?

  • Serenity:

Yes I would and I am a fiscal conservative. These are hard working Americans who have toiled incessantly to eke out a living, paid their taxes and most have tried to support their families and keep their lives together.

The tax cheaters Obama continues to appoint to his Cabinet and positions of power just continue to receive extravagant salaries as does the Congress who look down on the people who would dare question their superior wisdom. The only ones benefitting from Obama’s stimulus package are more government employees and Obama supporting unions and the dues the members are
compelled to pay for Democratic elections.

Listening to Obama on Illegal Immigration today was so typical of his screwed up reasoning: So like himself, he is more concerned about the illegals getting good jobs, being paid the same wages as legal American workers.

AS usual Obama’s loyalities are always for foreigners and he cares nothing for the tax paying Americans.

Yes, extend unemployment and expand Human Resources to really help those looking to work but due to age, lack of education or knowing one skill are left to ‘wander in the darkness’. Obama will shove these former taxpayers off the cliff and do all in his power to spend whatever it takes to provide for illegal immigrants.

It would depend on the circumstances. Some areas are much more depressed than others. I live in MD & my business is booming. I live in a conservative county which is gray & bleak looking. Many small businesses shut down in the past several years or just never started. I can go to the liberal areas W. & East of my county & you would never think there was a recession.

So if I lived in one of the areas that is alive & healthy I might not see that this is not true for the whole country. I would have to do a lot of research & make some kinds of laws where people would really have to proof they are not working because they are doing all they can.

I am a liberal/democrat. I imagine there are areas where there are just NO jobs. I know many people live so far from places they can’t hop on a bus or drive to a job. So there would have to be an interview & people would have to be help for those who do live in areas like I live in.

People are different but if they get the right help they can find a way to prosperity.

My husband has many learning disabilities but together we are able to run a great business. He is blessed with the ability to fix anything & he is very healthy & strong & we have a vehicle & he has me & I am able to do all the financial & secretarial work.

Not everyone knows what gifts they have to offer others. Not everyone has great health. A diabetic who is taught how to eat a raw food diet could go from feeling dead to being very energetic. Yet, right wing media is brainwashing people to put their faith in the drug companies.

So YES, I would extend cause we always find money so people like McCain, Cheney, Bush & Bin Laden can make a fortune so we can take care of the people who have given the most to this country. Money is not everything though we have to have other programs for health & education for people.

Unemployment benefits are meant to give a person a few weeks to find another job. It is not meant to be early retirement. 99 weeks is a year and eleven months. Our capitalism system can not sustain that. I would try to get benefits reduced to 52 weeks.

Under communism, everyone would have a home and food and medical care and everyone would have a job. The disabled would contribute less to the economy but they would still contribute something. Under our system, one has to be better or faster at a task or you do nothing as you will not be given a job. Under current conditions many very able bodied people do nothing because the bottom line of employers will be adversely effected if the number of employees are increased. From each according to his ability to each according to his needs. Works very well in a well functioning family. But our economy is more about doing better than others then it is about taking care of everyone.

Thanks for flying the Stars and Bars. We must never forget the bravery and horrible conditions endured by our soldiers and the Southern people.

  • Karma:

It would depend on how much the person needed this. If a person had a ton of money saved they shouldn’t rely on the government for support. If a person really needed money which many hard working people do, they would get the extensions. I guess I am thinking of the way other welfare is given out. I think food stamps is only for people who have no money & they have to prove they need the money. We have to take care of the people who need this. I have a friend who works in a grocery store who says many republicans who never wanted to help their fellow Americans, are now in need of help. We live in an area where everyone knows what is going on with others. They were often people who had businesses but shut down a few years ago & might be delivery pizza for the places still open. There are many houses up for sale & I think 50% are people who can’t make the payments anymore. So as my name says KARMA it is time for those who were not nice to poor people to know what it feels like….so no I would not extend it. I know many democrats who respect the government & have retired from the government & they are doing well or alteast better than the business owners. They blame Obama but this happened years ago. The democratic congress was voted in by republicans who were losing their jobs & saw the mess Bush created. Now republicans act like things were not a mess before the democratics took over congress. This is brainwashing at it’s finest.
