If things are so good under Obama, why are jobless claims up again this week?

Question by Marcus Auriekius: If things are so good under Obama, why are jobless claims up again this week?
The number of Americans filing first-time claims for unemployment benefits rose last week, a sign that the job market’s road to recovery remains bumpy.

The number of initial claims increased to 412,000 in the week ended Apr. 9, up 27,000 from the week before, the Labor Department said Thursday. The figure was the highest in two months and surprised economists, who were expecting 385,000 new claims.

I blame larger companies, eliminating far more jobs than they create.

Probably because several state employees found themselves out of job thanks to drastic action taken by newly elected Republican leadership in several states.

Because avoiding the 2nd republican Great Depression is hard work that takes more than overnight to correct.

Funny how that works, isn’t it? After the last two unemployment reports put out by the Federal government said unemployment dropped, reports a week later say claims went up. I don’t supposed the Feds are fudging the numbers, do you?

i am sorry to question your premise, but exactly when were things good under obama. while i know he wasn’t responsible one of the first things that happened after he was elected was in february 2008 when people began defaulting on sub-prime loans they couldn’t afford. which was accompanied by massive numbers of foreclosures and bank closings. the world economy still has not recovered from it
