Offered a job via email to be a rebate processor. I want to make sure the company is legitimate before I invest in to a new beginning. We r very tight on money as the rest of you are as well and I would like to try this job out.

Speak to someone in person. Ask them questions about the hours, and the specific position you have in mind. If possible, try to talk to someone else who works at the same position, or used to work for them to get more details.
If they ask you to put up a lot of money up front, it is probably a scam. No employer should be asking you for money.
