Isn’t it very convenient that so many of today’s conservatives/neoliberals claim to be promoting Adam Smith’s free market philosophies, yet have no idea what these philosophies entailed? In his capitalism, the consumer was king, not businesses. But even when it came to businesses, he didn’t like the idea of the precurser to corporations, chartered companies. He believed that managers of these companies wouldn’t act in the best overall interest of the owners (shareholders). Very prescient, oui?

I think that the fact is our creepy politicians are ignoring what is recognized as THE GENESIS OF THE FINANCIAL MELTDOWN, THE EXPLOSION OF THE HOUSING BUBBLE. All of that stinky paper that screwed up the financial markets would still be good if there was not a HUGE EXPLOSION OF THE HOUSING BUBBLE. Greedy Ameritards bought houses they could not afford and lots of other junk. Time to start at the beginning and liquidate Fannie and Freddie!
