First Time Jobless Claims Rise by 25,000
First-time claims for U.S. unemployment insurance benefits rose sharply in the week ending May 15, the U.S. Department of Labor said Thursday. First-time claims jumped by 25,000 to 471,000, following four consecutive weeks — and nine out of 11 — in which first time claims dropped.
