First-Time Jobless Claims Drop Modestly, Unemployment Rate Still 9.9 Percent
First-time claims for U.S. unemployment insurance benefits fell by 4,000 in the week ending May 8, the U.S. Department of Labor said Thursday. It was the fourth consecutive week the number of claims dropped and the ninth drop in 11 weeks.
