I have faith in the American consumer; the MIDDLE CLASS! Give them the tax cuts because they will actually consume. Tax cuts for the rich will do nothing. Now, if you are trying to make the argument markets regulate themselves for the better, well, that is just BS. People tend to buy the cheapest product and don’t really ask questions about how old the child was who made that product or how long his day was in the sweat shop.
As Hillary Clinton said, “We can’t afford to have that money go to the private sector. The money has to go to the federal government because the federal government will spend that money better than the private sector will spend it.”
This is fairly representative of typical liberal opinion.
Same reason Republicans do. They just want the money spent at the top of the ladder instead of the bottom. And they want to do it on less income.
Democrat voters have more faith in a bureaucrat they will never meet than in THEMSELVES, especially if choices about keeping themselves alive are involved.
You can control government spending a lot easier than you can control consumer spending, but consumer spending decides how well the economy is running.
The tax cuts were already in effect since the recession started and American Consumers STILL werent spending.

American consumers buy SUVs and shop at Walmart. Reason enough to distrust their ability to spend wisely.
