Crack in my dentures, what can I do to fix and how could they get cracked without dropping them?

Question by : Crack in my dentures, what can I do to fix and how could they get cracked without dropping them?
I have a top plate only. My bottom teeth are still natural. The crack runs along the bottom side of the plate. It goes from the back of one of the front teeth to about the middle of the plate. I was eating peanuts one day and I felt the plate sort of give and crack in my mouth. Is there anything I can get to patch it up and prevent the crack from growing until I can get a dentist to fix it? Also, does anyone know of a ballpark figure on the cost of a repair like that? I’m unemployed and uninsured and I live in Arizona.

It’s not always a good idea to try to fix them yourself. I’ve seen people ruin their dentures by doing this. Your best bet is to get to a dentist for a repair. It’s usually done in one day and not very expensive.
as a side note. Do you soak your denture overnight? If they are removed and left out in the air they become dried out and more prone to breakage. Good luck

Going to the dentist is the best way to know if it is repairable. If it is more than a few years old it might be time to replace it. As the other poster said home repairs can ruin them. Maybe they can either replair the crack or rebase the denture for you. Do you have a spare set to wear while they are in the shop?
