Question by Nishant G: Can anyone explain how consumer spending will change the american economy?
The way I see America is reduced to some corporate giants – top level executives/managers/practitioners/technicians, big cats in wall-street who gamble with the life savings of many. These are the only guys who have the money to splurge in high-end products and services. The rest are battling against job losses, high inflation and food shortages and in no time going to be equivalent of a third world existence. All volume products and services are going to find bigger markets in BRIC with their growing economies.

Yet what I do not understand is how on earth consumer spending in US would improve American economy from a long term perspective. It’s only the wall-street and China men who is going to profit out of the American consumer spending. Remember that there is going to be only service jobs for the lower economic classes and with heavy unemployment those jobs are going to be difficult to come by.
