Are corporations ruining America?

It seems US corporations are constantly trying to cut corners, find ways around unions and exploit cheap labor. Walmart makes huge profits while keeping its workers in poverty, drives small businesses into bankruptcy, exploits workers in poor countries and is the fiercest anti-union company in the US. Filmmaker Douglas Rushkoff says we get into trouble when people think the Walmart way is the only war.

Businesses based in a given country should not be permitted by the laws of its own country to exploit the labour and resources of another country where that other country’s laws do not have the same labour and resource protection laws of the home country. In the movie “It’s a Wonderful Life” George Bailey sank his savings into keeping the Bailey Building & Loan afloat during the Depression Era bank scare, then the only thing that kept him out of jail was an angelic miracle. Real businesses cannot afford to be so lucky!
Small businesses faces the problem that despite their size they have to follow the same regulations as corporations. The reason why businesses of any size use bank loans to finance their operations is to avoid personal financial disaster. If people finance a business out of their own pocket, they face the possibility of personal bankruptcy if the busness fails.

There exist FAR more important things than giving corporate CEOs and Wal-Mart even more power and money.
@noisygrass Many of us DON’T buy from wal-mart. That still doesn’t stop Wal-Mart from polluting and stealing from other people: from poor workers in China; from criminal union-busting.

@xander7ful Not to mention the the Gold Standard Act which got rid of the Gold Standard, and allowed the FEDs to print money out of nothing. Keep in mind also what the New Deal was, jobs from the government that is socialism by definition. Where do lobbyists come from people or corporations. Who’s interest do congress serve? Used to be a constitutional republic with democratic principles. Now were a fascist country with socialist principles. WE ARE COMMUNISTIC!!! No? WHY NOT THEN?
Roosevelt outlawed alternative currencies. And we still think that he was a socialist? That is proof enough that he was a servant of the Bankers and corporate interests.

We the people buy food from the corporations. Their are barely any mom and pop stores. People need to grow some of their own food. help each other. We need our jobs to come back to the states. We are basically designed to get help from the government Health Care No offense. Have farms for the people no genetically modified food. Real organic foods . Too many huge corporations run our life’s and economy.Standard oil = huge monopolies .Stock Market unfair and stupid.Corperations = new states

how are people just supposed to quit there jobs in a recession when they have families to feed? its ridiculous that walmart cant just spare some of their billions to pay for decent health care and get their heads out of the ass. our country is so corrupt..that walmart can run a monopoly and not be stopped. its bullshit. ultimately.
