Pregnant fiance is laid off from her job which doesn’t offer any insurance. My insurance will not cover her. are there any programs we can go through to get her covered immediately.

Medi-cal. They will give her a little blue-green insurance card that will cover her for prenatal care and the labor/delivery. Just go to your local human services office or even call a local clinic. Some of them will help her to apply and will see her while she is waiting for approval.

Most states offer health coverage for pregnant women who are uninsured. Check your state’s Department of Health and Human Services webpage for information about these programs. You can also contact local OB/GYN offices, or her current OB, to ask about medical coverage for pregnant women in your area.
Your fiancee may also be eligible for WIC, which provides supplemental food for pregnant women and nursing mothers.

welfare They are not aloud to turn down pregnant women. Since you are not married they can’t count what you make. I had gateway they pay for everything. But you just have to find a doctor that takes welfare and make sure you get reference from other people before you go there.

Where do you live? Most of the programs are provided by the state. Unless you live somewhere like the UK, Canada or Sweden where they are all civilized and have this crazy notion that EVERYONE should be entitled to health care.

In Illinois (USA) we have a mothers and babies program through the state government that will cover any mother who cannot afford health care.

Many states have similar programs because providing care for a mother is sort of a two-for-one benefit, and means that in the long run the state will spend less money on the baby, who might otherwise have more health problems.

Also, since no one mentioned this as a solution: have a quick wedding at the courthouse to be legally married in the eyes of the state, and then it is very likely that your insurance WILL cover her. Most will cover spouses but not fiancees. Private insurance is likely to be a lot more generous than public sources in terms of what they will cover.

It depends on the state that you are in. Many have programs for someone who does not have insurance. Also it will depend on factors such as income (whether or not you are getting married before the birth and your income would come into play) in order for her to qualify. In Indiana they have a program called Hoosier Healthwise for example.

Medicaid will cover her if she is pregnant. She just needs to go to the local health department location and apply.

Medicaid is a federally funded program that she can qualify for while she is pregnant and will cover the baby for 3 months after it is born. If she still has not found a job you can always tell her to apply for Children’s Health Insurance through the CHIP program. She can actually apply on line. If she is 18 then she can apply for CHIPS if she is older madicaid is the way to go. Good Luck!

Medicaid. Almost any pregnant woman qualifies no matter the situation, unless she works full time in a good job. Go to Social services, or family and children services or whatever it may be called around there. Department of human resources/DFCS is what is here.

It’s called Medicaid. You have to go to the local health dept., and they’ll help you through the application process. Coverage begins immediately, and if she has any medical bills 3 months prior, they might pay those too. They will also supply her with prenatal vitamins, since the are highly recommended for the folic acid and other vitals they contain. Since she has no income, she’ll qualify. Everything is paid for;every checkup, 2 ultrasounds, hospital stay. The only thing Medicaid doesn’t pay for is circumcision, which is around $250 where I live in NC, but you guys have time to prepare for that, if you are having a boy and decide to do it.
Keep in mind these are the rules in NC, maybe not the same where you live, so find out when you go! Good Luck and Congratulations on your baby!
