Author: Lawmakers give final approval to state budget
RALEIGH — The N.C. General Assembly gave final approval Wednesday to a new state government budget that contains no raises for state employees for a second straight year and threatens to underfund pension contributions even more if extra money doesn’t arrive from Congress.

Clark County’s flood of distressed properties appears to be receding, thanks to new federal programs and lower prices that have made homes more affordable. A report issued Tuesday by California-based RealtyTrac showed that sales of homes in foreclosure dropped 29 percent countywide in the first three months of the year.
